John “Jack” Abel, 87, of Temperance, MI, died Saturday, October 21, 2017. Born November 22, 1929 in Toledo, OH, the son of John H. and Mildred R. (Freeman) Abel. He served 32 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corp Reserves, retiring as Sergeant Major. Jack retired in 1995 as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative district manager. His noteworthy memberships include: founding member of Harbor Light Lodge-746 F. & A. M.; life member of Samaria Lodge-438 F. & A. M.; Erie Presbyterian Church; many years service as B.S.A. Scoutmaster of Troop 700 including Wood Badge Three Beads and Silver Beaver award recipient.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary (Aubry); (5) children, John Abel, Terrie (Patrick Vaccaro) Abel, J.R. (Janet) Abel, Tom (Karen) Abel and Charlie Abel; (11) grandchildren and (5) great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lynne Abel.

Visitation from 3-8 pm, Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. Temperance, MI; where Masonic services will be held Friday at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 28, 2017.
